Assess Training Needs

A needs analysis process is a series of activities conducted to identify problems or other issues in the workplace and to determine whether training is an appropriate solution. It requires meeting with selected individuals within different departments to hear their concerns as to what is working and what is not. What do they believe are the strengths and the barriers impacting productivity?

Once this stage is complete, the data needs to be organized. This data will be placed in a report that will outline the following:

  • Sort information into categories
  • Separate training issues from non-training issues
  • Identify content or training topic issues
  • Determine whether an issue is a hands-on skill issue
